Katie's Rules

Katie decided to share her rules with us today. Here is what she said:

"Rule #1: If you have a phone you do not put it in the cupholder. The cupholder is for cups...

Rule #2: If you have a brother you want to hold, you have to ask your mommy. You have to wash your hands.

Rule #3: If you want to play with your mommy and she's feeding the brother Luke you have you ask your daddy to play ring-around-the-rosie.

Rule #4: You have to wash your friends.....

Rule#5: You don't walk close to the garage door when it's closing."

Tugaloo 2011

This was my (Kim's) family's 32nd year going to Tugaloo State Park. It really means a lot to everyone in our family to spend time together and do the same fun things from year to year.

We all enjoyed time with family, homemade ice cream and lots of other yummy food, volleyball, trips to the playground, swimming, games, Thelma's frozen lemonade, "shows" on the stage, and much more!

Here are some pictures from Tugaloo 2011:

Luke really enjoyed his first Tugaloo!

Luke is rolling ... Finally!!!

Last night, Luke was doing a little tummy time. I noticed that he looked like he might want to roll over, so I grabbed the camera, and caught his first "roll over" on video!

(I am SO sorry about my annoying voice on this video. I tried to edit it out, but the edited version would not load.)

Luke is 4 months old!

Luke turned 4 months old on July 8th! He has really learned a lot in the past month. He has started to babble a lot and make lots of new sounds. He will repeat sounds that others make. He loves to smile and laugh. He has learned how to use his hands and loves to hold toys, blankets, pretty much anything. He loves to put his hands in his mouth, and often tries to put both hands in at one time. We keep expecting to see a tooth, but so far there is nothing!

Luke moved to his own bed in his own room on his 4 month birthday. The transition was perfect. He did not wake up during the night any more than he normally does (which is still about once per night for a feeding). It was also his first night without his swaddle. We found out that he likes to touch his hair while he sleeps.

Luke still hates tummy time, but he loves to play in his exersaucer and jumparoo. He is also happy to lounge in his bouncy seat or just relax in his swing. He loves to watch his sister play and dance. He always smiles. He is quiet and calm all (well most of) the time. He only cries when he is tired, wet, or hungry. He is just happy to be around other people, and hardly ever complains. Luke is the perfect baby!

We went to the doctor for his four month appointment. He weighed in at 18 lbs, 14 oz. This puts him in the 98th percentile for weight. He was 26 inches (86th percentile) and his head circumference is 17 inches (76th percentile).

We sure do love our Lukey, and we cannot believe he is already 4 months old!!!

June (We Love Summer!!!)

June has been a super fun month. We have stayed up late, slept in almost every morning, played at the pool, gone to the zoo, and much more. Here are some pictures from June 2011:

Luke turned 3 months old in June. He learned to play in his exersaucer and jumparoo. He found his hands and has learned to hold and play with things.

We had lots of fun at the zoo. We even went to the Members Only Night at the zoo.

Luke in his exersaucer.

We celebrated Father's Day.

We have gone to story time almost every week in June.
(Story time might be going on in the background, but Katie is busy teaching her own Jazzercise class!)

We have had tons of fun swimming this summer. We love to swim at Honey and Pop's pool, and with friends at their neighborhood pool. Katie has really started to become more comfortable swimming without her swimmies. She has been taking Swim Lessons at Aquatots, and her teacher says that she is almost ready to move up to the next class, where she will swim completely on her own!

Katie has also been taking gymnastics this summer. She loves running around doing the "Animal Action" song.

A picture of our mornings...pajamas until mid-morning...nice and relaxing!

More swimming ... Katie learned how to jump off the diving board on her own! She wouldn't do it at first. She kept saying, "Mommy, count!" And after "One, two, three .... Go!" she would say, "If you say so....," but not jump at all!

Luke got to sit in his Bumbo (well, Katie's old purple Bumbo) seat for the first time during June.

Katie always says, "Mommy, take a picture!"

June has been so much fun! It sure does make us tired!
